At long last, today saw the release of our junkedelic comrades Gladboy‘s debut EP (which, you may recall, we premiered the title track from not so long ago). Egopushin’ is a woozy and insatiable take on psychedelia, traversing the peaks and valleys of joyful danceability (She Found Herself) and spaced-out stoner-rock (Miracle Whip) with the odd insatiable itch (Sauer Kraut) chucked in for good measure over its twenty minute duration. Colourful essences of Tame Impala and The Flaming Lips lap at the edges of prickly guitars à la Wytches and slap bang in the middle, breezy Britpop whimsy (Who Loves You, Mrs Parson’s) as heard on the group’s previous singles. Simply put, Gladboy have thrown all caution to the wind and come up with one of the strongest releases from a Norwich-based band in fuck knows how long.
But the good news don’t stop there, baby, no. Next Monday (October 29th) the band are headlining The Waterfront Studio and giving the EP a proper launch celebration. We strongly recommend you grab yourself a ticket for a very reasonable £6.60 at this very address.
