Track of the Day #26: Gengahr – Where Wildness Grows

For fans of: Wolf Alice, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes
Hear it live: Cambridge Portland Arms (30 April) – tickets.

Gengahr’s second album ‘Where Wildness Grows’ lands next Friday (9 March) and as a final preview, the band have shared its expansive and evocative title track. For anyone who has followed the foursome since the blissful twinkles of 2015’s ‘A Dream Outside’, it’s noteworthy how the quartet have evolved their sound from pretty good to damn near perfect. That album broke ethereal sections up with loud rock to create an unpredictable twisting musical journey. This one, based on what they’ve shared so far, is a better-rounded soundscape that deepens the trenches and widens the rivers for an even more epic adventure. True to the pattern, this latest cut is rich with a thirst for escape, and sees Gengahr performing at their absolute finest.
