Track of the Day #15: Superorganism – Reflections On the Screen

For fans of: MGMT, Jungle, Animal Collective
Hear it live: Latitude Festival (12-15 July) – tickets.

In their continuing triumphant world domination, wonk-pop collective Superorganism have unveiled ‘Reflections On the Screen’, from their forthcoming self-titled debut album. The track sits comfortably on the more conventional end of what material the group have put out so far, but still throbs away with a glossy, psychedelic pulse. Vocalist Orono Noguchi’s voice has an ethereal youthfulness to it, further enhancing the vibrant world that the band create through their unusual music.

Anti Despair Machine caught Superorganism live at The Jazz Café in Camden last Thursday where they performed almost all of the new album in full. It was weird and interesting, but the stand-out quality was the sheer joy of it all. A mismatched gang of international mates singing lyrics about prawns and spaceships? We’re all for it.
