Track of the Day #05: The Orielles – Blue Suitcase (Disco Wrist)

For fans of: The Moonlandingz, Foxygen, Beach Fossils
Hear it live: UK tour dates in February and April

It must be fun being in The Orielles. The young trio, soon to release their debut LP ‘Silver Dollar Moment’ on Heavenly Records, evoke jaunty, psychedelic sensations with every song they release – and the madness is increasing. Awash with sprightly effects and joyful guitar melodies, ‘Blue Suitcase’ is their latest album cut, a cheerfully abstract song which jumps freely between tempos with zero regard for rules or regulation. On bass and vocals, Esmé Dee Hand-Halford muses wistfully, before an off-beat bongo-stroke-tambourine solo draws the song to an end. And I always thought Tuesdays were boring.
